Like many patients, Nancy found it difficult to keep her drain in place following her surgery. It tugged painfully at the sutures that attached the tube to her body. Sleeping was uncomfortable. Showering was next to impossible. Simple daily activities, like dressing, eating, and using the bathroom were hindered by the nagging presence of the dangling drain.

Her frustration led to the design and development of The Marsupial. It consists of an adjustable terry cloth belt with an attachable pouch. The belt fits comfortably around the waist, while the pouch holds the egg-shaped drainage container, allowing free movement of the hands and arms.
